COLUMBUS, OHIO - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Cody Goloubef off Injured Reserve and loaned him to the American Hockey League’s Springfield Falcons on a conditioning assignment, Blue Jackets General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The club also has assigned left wing Kerby Rychel to Springfield.
Goloubef, 24, collected two penalty minutes in three games this season with the Blue Jackets before suffering a knee injury on November 1 at New Jersey. The Oakville, Ontario native was Columbus’ second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft and played in five games with the Blue Jackets in 2013-14, while adding 7-21-28 with 98 penalty minutes with Springfield in 2013-14. He has 18-52-70 and 232 penalty minutes in 198 career AHL games with the Falcons.
Rychel, 20, made his NHL debut on November 29 at Nashville and picked up three assists and two penalty minutes in four games with the Blue Jackets. The club’s second first round pick, 19th overall, in the 2013 NHL Draft, he registered his first NHL point on December 1 vs. Florida and his first career multi-point game (0-2-2) on December 4 at Florida. The Torrance, California native has also recorded 6-7-13 and 30 penalty minutes in 21 outings with Springfield. Rychel spent the past four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League, tallying 122-150-272 and 264 penalty minutes in 256 games with Mississauga, Windsor and Guelph.
