COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated goaltender Curtis McElhinney off Injured Reserve and assigned goaltender Anton Forsberg to Cleveland’s Lake Erie Monsters, Columbus’ American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today.
McElhinney, 32, has missed the past 17 games with a sprained ankle suffered on Jan. 2 vs. Washington. He is 2-6-2 with a 3.33 goals-against average and .888 save percentage in 15 games this season. The London, Ontario native has posted a 43-57-9 record with a 2.99 goals-against average, .904 save percentage and four shutouts in 144 career NHL games with Columbus, Phoenix, Ottawa, Anaheim and Calgary.
Forsberg, 23, is 1-3-0 with a 3.03 goals against average and .907 save percentage in four games with the Blue Jackets this season. He is also 13-8-3 with a 2.58 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage in 25 games with Lake Erie. The Härnösand, Sweden native has posted a 1-7-0 record with a 4.01 goals against average and .882 save percentage in nine career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. The club’s sixth pick, 188th overall, in the 2011 NHL Draft, has also compiled a 36-16-4 record with a 2.19 goals-against average, .920 save percentage and three shutouts in 59 career AHL games.
The Blue Jackets return to action on Tuesday when they host the Boston Bruins. Game time from Nationwide Arena is 7 p.m. ET.
