COLUMBUS, OHIO -- The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated defenseman Cody Goloubef off Injured Reserve and placed right wing David Clarkson on Injured Reserve, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The team also announced that defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk has been claimed off waivers by the Colorado Avalanche.
Goloubef, 26, has missed the past 19 games after suffering a broken jaw on November 20 vs. Nashville. He has registered a goal and four assists for five points with 12 penalty minutes and a +4 plus/minus rating in 16 games with the Blue Jackets this season. The Mississauga, Ontario native has tallied 2-13-15 with 33 penalty minutes and a +14 plus/minus rating in 69 career NHL games with the Blue Jackets. Columbus’ second pick, 37th overall, in the 2008 NHL Draft, Goloubef has added 18-52-70 and 232 penalty minutes in 201 career AHL games.
Clarkson, 31, suffered an upper body injury in Saturday night’s 5-4 shootout victory over the Washington Capitals and will be sidelined indefinitely. He has recorded 1-1-2 and 13 penalty minutes in 18 games this season. The Toronto, Ontario native has posted 113-85-198 and 982 penalty minutes in 565 career games with the Blue Jackets, Toronto Maple Leafs and New Jersey Devils in 10 NHL seasons, including 1-1-2 and 27 penalty minutes in 21 games with the Jackets since being acquired from the Maple Leafs on February 26, 2015.
