COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Michael Peca off Injured Reserve, club General Manager Scott Howson announced October 10. Peca is expected to make his Blue Jackets debut tonight when the club hosts the Phoenix Coyotes.
Peca, who was signed by Columbus as a free agent on August 23, had been sidelined with a groin strain. Last season, he tallied four goals and 11 assists for 15 points with 60 penalty minutes and a +2 plus/minus rating in 35 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The Toronto, Ontario native has registered 164-245-409 and 676 penalty minutes in 728 career NHL games, including 38 power play, 25 shorthanded and 28 game-winning goals. He has also won the Frank J. Selke Trophy as the NHL's top defensive forward twice – 1996-97 with the Buffalo Sabres and 2001-02 with the New York Islanders.
The Blue Jackets and Coyotes face off tonight at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The game will be televised on FSN Ohio beginning with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. and broadcast on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship stations WBNS-AM 1460 The Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.1.
