The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated center Manny Malhotra and defenseman Adam Foote from the Injured Reserve list, club President and General Manager Doug MacLean announced today. Both players are expected to be in the lineup tonight as Columbus hosts the New York Islanders at 7 p.m. at Nationwide Arena.
Malhotra was placed on Injured Reserve due to back spasms prior to the Nov. 30 game at Minnesota and has missed the past two games. Prior to the injury, Malhotra had skated in 24 games scoring 2-13-15. His 13 assists tied his career high set in 2003-04 and leads the team, while the 15 points is third on the club. In his last game, Malhotra scored a season-high 1-2-3 in the club’s 4-3 victory over St. Louis on Nov. 26 and enters tonight’s game with 2-3-5 in his last four contests.
Foote injured his groin during the Nov. 23 game against Nashville and has missed the last four contests. He had appeared in the team’s first 22 games, posting 3-2-5 while averaging a team-high 22:44 of ice time.
Tonight’s game against the Islanders will be broadcast on FSN Ohio, starting with the Ice Breaker pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. ET. The game also will be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network and flagship stations WBNS-AM Sports Radio 1460 the Fan and WWCD-FM, CD101.
