Jackets open 2017 Training Camp, presented by OhioHealth, September 14

The Columbus Blue Jackets begin preparations for their 17th National Hockey League season with the opening of training camp, presented by OhioHealth, on Thursday, September 14. Players will report for physicals at McConnell Spine, Sport and Joint Center beginning at 6:30 a.m. on Thursday with fitness testing to follow at Nationwide Arena.

The team will conduct off-ice workouts and on-ice testing on Friday, September 15 at Nationwide Arena with the first team on-ice practices and scrimmages slated for Saturday, September 16 in the OhioHealth Ice Haus and Nationwide Arena. Teams 1 and 4 will be on the ice between 9 a.m.-noon at the OhioHealth Ice Haus, while Teams 2 and 3 will skate in Nationwide Arena between 1-4 p.m.
All practice sessions on Saturdays and Sundays during training camp will be open to the public, along with weekday practices held in the OhioHealth Ice Haus (see full schedule below). For practices held at Nationwide Arena, fans can enter at McConnell Street, next to the Big Lots Box Office.
The training camp roster consists of 60 players (34 forwards, 21 defensemen, five goaltenders). The players will be divided into four groups for practice sessions between September 15 and 20. The Jackets open their eight-game preseason schedule on Tuesday, September 19 when they host the Chicago Blackhawks at Nationwide Arena. Game time is set for 7 p.m. The Jackets will also host the Pittsburgh Penguins on Friday, September 22, the Nashville Predators on Sunday, September 24 and the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, September 26. Columbus opens the regular season at home against the New York Islanders on Friday, October 6.
