With the 77th overall selection in the 2014 NHL draft, the Columbus Blue Jackets selected defenseman Blake Siebenaler from the OHL’a Niagara IceDogs.

The 2013-14 season was Siebenaler’s first in the OHL, but he made a big splash in his first season with the club. 24 assists in 68 games, including 4 assists in seven playoff games.

The six-foot-one, 192-pound 18-year old has drawn praise for being an offensive-minded defenseman who skates well and possesses tremendous passing and puck-controlling skills.

During his high school days, Siebenaler led his Carroll High School (Indiana) team to the division 4A state championship, registering 3-3—6 in four state tournament games.

Central Scouting ranked Siebenaler as the 47th best North American skater leading into the draft.
