The Blue Jackets are back on home ice tonight looking to end a three game losing streak against Central Division rival Nashville tonight at Nationwide Arena. Coach Hitchcock has named Steve Mason the starter tonight and the 20 year-old net minder will make his first appearance against the Predators who will likely start Dan Ellis. Following this morning's pre-game skate Hitch simply told the media gathering that he was going with Mason simply because he is playing "sound hockey" and gave up just five goals in the two West Coast games he played in.
Clay Wilson will see some action on the fourth line at left wing but will primarily play to quarterback the Jackets power play which Hitch says and I quote... "we haven't got the goals but I do see light at the end of the tunnel." He added that he is seeing things on the power play he hasn't seen all year.
One other note of interest although he is not yet ready to return to game action... Derek Dorsett skated with the team for the second straight day and appears to be able to fire the puck with a fair bit of velocity and the team's right winger did tell me yesterday he hopes to see the team doctor early next week to get the green light to possible return to the lineup in short order.
