COLUMBUS, OHIO – Columbus Blue Jackets center Artem Anisimov has been named the National Hockey League’s Second Star of the Week for the period ending March 9, the League and club announced today. Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin was named First Star, while New Jersey Devils forward Adam Henrique was the Third Star selection for the week.
Anisimov scored four goals, including three game-winners, in four games last week to lead Columbus to a 3-1-0 mark. He became the first player in franchise history to score the game-winning goal in three consecutive games – Mar. 1 vs. Florida, Mar. 3 at Toronto and Mar. 4 vs. Dallas (2 goals, 14 face-off wins) – and after the streak ended at Chicago on Mar. 6, he registered the club’s fourth-straight game-winner with a third period tally in a 1-0 win at Nashville on Mar. 6.
Anisimov, who played for Russia at the recent Olympic Games in Sochi, has tallied 6-1-7 in six games since the NHL season resumed to raise his season totals to 19-14-33 in 64 games. He has set a new career high in goals and is three points shy of matching his career-high of 36 points (16-20-36 in 79 games) set with the New York Rangers in 2011-12.
The Blue Jackets return to action tonight when they visit the Dallas Stars. Game time from American Airlines Center is 8:30 p.m. ET. Live coverage on FOX Sports Ohio begins with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show starting at 8 p.m. The game will also be broadcast live on the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including flagship station Sports Radio 97.1 The Fan in Columbus and online at BlueJackets.com.
