An Original Six Team Makes a Rare Appearance at Nationwide

by Jeff Rimer / Columbus Blue Jackets

December 3

The Toronto Maple Leafs, fresh off a 3-0 win over the Canadiens in Montreal, make only their fourth ever visit to Columbus tonight to face the Blue Jackets. The Leafs are 4-1-2 in their last seven and appear to be over their disastrous start.

The Blue Jackets, I thought, deserved a much better fate in Chicago Tuesday night. They played a solid road game before dropping a 4-3 shootout decision to the Blackhawks. In particular, I thought Steve Mason was very strong, especially in the shootout when he turned aside eight straight! Mason will get the start and he will be opposed by Joey MacDonald of the Leafs.

The Blue Jackets are expected to go with the same lineup as in Chicago. Anton Stralman, an original Leafs product, will face his former mates for the first time and told me this morning, after the large media throng from Toronto finished talking to him, he has had this date circled on his calendar since joining the Jackets and wants this game "BIG TIME." Stralman said he never got the opportunity to play on Toronto's power play, where he has excelled for Columbus and hopes to contribute there tonight!

It's an all-access telecast tonight on FOX Sports Ohio, beginning at 6:30 p.m. with Blue Jackets Live! Excellent seats remain for the rare Leafs visit and game time is 7 p.m.
