COLUMBUS, OHIO – For the ninth consecutive year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association state ice hockey semi-finals and championship games will be held at Nationwide Arena. The 2011 semifinals are slated for Saturday, March 12 at noon and 3 p.m. with the final played at noon on Sunday, March 13. In addition, the Senior All-Star Game will be played at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday in advance of the championship.
The 34th Annual OHSAA state hockey tournament, which began with 86 teams, is down to its final four. The winners of each district - Brooklyn, Columbus, Kent and Sylvania - have advanced to the semi-finals. Toledo St. Francis will face Powell Olentangy Liberty in the first semi-final game at noon on Saturday, followed by Lakewood St. Edward taking on Gates Mills Gilmour Academy at 3 p.m.
For the fourth straight year, SportsTime Ohio will televise the championship weekend to a statewide audience beginning with the semi-finals at 7 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 12th. The finals will be shown live at noon on Sunday, March 13. Neil Sika and John Mowat will handle the play-by-play and color commentary for the title game.
