COLUMBUS, OHIO – For the seventh consecutive year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Ice Hockey Semi-Finals and Championship games will be held at Nationwide Arena. The 2009 semifinals are slated for Saturday, March 14 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with the final played at 11 a.m. on Sunday, March 15 prior to the Blue Jackets game against Detroit at 5 p.m. In addition, the Senior All-Star Game will be played at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The 32nd Annual OHSAA state hockey tournament, which began with 82 teams, is down to its final four teams. The winners of each district - Brooklyn, Kent, Sylvania and Columbus - have advanced to the semi-finals. St. Edward High School (Lakewood) will face University School (Hunting Valley) in the first semifinal game at 1 p.m., followed by Centerville High School (Centerville) taking on St. John's Jesuit High School and Academy (Toledo) at 4 p.m.
For the second straight year, SportsTime Ohio will televise the championship game to a statewide audience. The tape delayed broadcast will air at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 15.
