COLUMBUS, OHIO – For the sixth consecutive year, the Ohio High School Athletic Association State Ice Hockey Semi-Finals and Championship games will be held at Nationwide Arena, the weekend of March 8 & 9. The 2008 semifinals are slated for Saturday, March 8 at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. with the final played at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 9. In addition, the Senior All-Star Game will be played at 10 a.m. Sunday.
The 31st Annual OHSAA state hockey tournament, which began with 79 teams, is down to its final four teams. The winners of each district - Brooklyn, Kent, Sylvania and Columbus - have advanced to the semi-finals. Lakewood St. Edward will face Toledo St. Francis de Sales in the first semi-final game at 1 p.m., followed by Cincinnati St. Xavier taking on Gates Mills Gilmour Academy at 4 p.m.
For the first time ever, SportsTime Ohio will televise the championship game live to a statewide audience. Game time is set for 6:30 p.m. Neil Sika and John Mowat, who have broadcast Ohio Junior Blue Jackets games on Columbus Sports Network this season, will handle the play-by-play and color commentary.
SportsTime Ohio is a new regional sports network by the sports entertainment company Fastball Sports Productions.
