Chicago Blackhawks radio play-by-play broadcaster John Wiedeman and color analyst Troy Murray received top honors in the Chicago Market "Best Radio Play-By-Play" category at the 2017 Illinois Broadcasters Association (IBA) Silver Dome Awards, held June 8. This marks the fourth time in seven years that Wiedeman and Murray have won this award, as they also won in 2011, 2012 and 2014.
"The dynamic energy and passion for the game that John and Troy bring to Blackhawks radio broadcasts is a benefit to our fans," said John McDonough, President & CEO of the Chicago Blackhawks. "We would also like to congratulate our radio partner, WGN Radio, on their six awards they won last night and we appreciate the partnership we have with them."
In addition to honoring the work of Wiedeman and Murray, the IBA recognized Blackhawks radio flagship WGN Radio AM-720 with first place honors in six categories, including Chicago Market Station of the Year.
WGN Radio has been the flagship station for the Blackhawks since the start of the 2008-09 campaign. The partnership united two historic Chicago institutions that have been part of the city's fabric for over 80 years.
