Veterans Martin Lapointe and Matthew Barnaby got into a scrum at practice, leaving Barnaby a little bloody. Barnaby said he and Lapointe are the best of friends and will probably have dinner tonight. "Loser pays," Barnaby said, "so I'll be buying." Coach Trent Yawney chalked it up to two guys just being frustrated with a disappointing season. The Blackhawk Alumni Association named Lapointe the team's player of the year at a luncheon Monday...

On the prospect front, Moose Jaw right wing Troy Brouwer captured the Bob Clarke Trophy as the WHL's Top Scorer, the WHL announced Monday ... Swedish center Jonas Nordqvist was knocked out of the playoffs Tuesday as his Lulea squad fell yesterday to Linkopings 7-2. They lost the best-of-7 series 4-2. Nordqvist had a goal and 2 assists in Lulea's 6 games ... In a recent Ontario Hockey League coaches poll of the Western Conference, 2004 5th round pick Mitch Maunu, a defenseman for Windsor, was voted as the league's 3rd most underrated player. Maunu was also voted the #3 Best Defensive Defenseman and #2 Best Penalty Killer ... 2005 2nd rounder Mike Blunden, a right wing, was voted the #2 Hardest Worker ... LW Bryan Bickell (Windsor) tied for 2nd in the Hardest Shot category ... C Dave Bolland (London) was voted the #2 Best Stickhandler and the #1 Best Penalty Killer.
