The Chicago Blackhawks announced today defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk underwent successful surgery to repair a right wrist injury. The procedure was performed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital under the supervision of Blackhawks Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Terry.
“Trevor underwent successful surgery today to repair a right wrist injury,” Terry said. “The procedure went well and we expect a full recovery and a return to play in approximately eight weeks.”
van Riemsdyk, 23, has one assist in 18 games in his first professional season with the Blackhawks. The Middletown, N.J., native also collected three assists in eight games with the Rockford IceHogs of the American Hockey League this season. Signed as a free agent on March 24, 2014, van Riemsdyk tallied his first professional point with an assist on Nov. 9 against San Jose. He previously recorded 75 points (16G, 59A) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire.
