The Chicago Blackhawks announced today that defenseman Trevor van Riemsdyk underwent successful surgery to repair a left patella fracture. The procedure was performed at Northwestern Memorial Hospital under the supervision of Blackhawks Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Terry.
“Trevor underwent successful surgery today to repair his left patella fracture,” Terry said. “The procedure went very well and I anticipate a full recovery in three to four months.”
van Riemsdyk, 23, has one assist in 18 games in his first professional season with the Blackhawks. Signed as a free agent on March 24, 2014, van Riemsdyk tallied his first professional point with an assist on Nov. 9 against San Jose. The Middletown, N.J., native previously recorded 75 points (16G, 59A) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire.
