In conjunction with the Amateur Hockey Association of Illinois (AHAI), the Chicago Blackhawks will host the 2016 Illinois State High School Hockey Championships, presented by Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana Chevy Dealers, at the United Center on Friday, March 18. Tickets for the event, which features three contests, will go on sale on Monday, Feb. 1, at 10 a.m.
The Boys State Championship tilt, which begins at 7 p.m., will be broadcast in high-definition on Comcast SportsNet Chicago at 11 p.m. March 18 at the United Center will feature a full night of action with the Illinois Girls’ State Championship (4:00 p.m.), the Boys’ Red Division State Championship (7 p.m.) and the Boys’ Combined Division State Championship (9:15 p.m.)
Members of local youth hockey organizations who purchase tickets online through a special offer will also have the opportunity to partake in a group photo on the United Center ice following the Red Division Championship game (see attached photo). The organization with the highest attendance at the Red Division Championship game will receive a full gameday scrimmage experience at the United Center during the 2016-17 regular season. The organization with the second-highest attendance will be invited to the United Center to tour the brand new Chicago Blackhawks locker room on a non-gameday, while the organization with the third-highest attendance will be invited to the United Center to watch a Blackhawks practice.
This marks the 29th year that AHAI will host their State Championship at the United Center/Chicago Stadium. The 2015 title was won by Glenbrook North High School in the Red Division, Glenbard High Schools in the Combined Division and Latin High School in the Girls’ Division.
