Some memorable dates this week in Blackhawk history:
On October 29, 1975, the Hawks' began a streak of 15 games without a loss that would run through December 3. By compiling a record of 6-0-9, the 1975-76 Blackhawks tied the 1966-67 team (12-0-3) for the team record of games without a loss.
Halloween has historically been more treat than trick for the Hawks:
On October 31, 1979, Hall of Fame goalie Tony Esposito dueled Buffalo’s Bob Sauve in a scoreless tie at the Stadium. “Tony O” was part of three other scoreless ties among the 34 in Hawks history.
On Oct. 31, 1991, the Hawks registered their 1,750th franchise victory, a 4-3 win over the New York Islanders.
Left winger Al Secord had three straight multiple-goal games in 1981 when he scored 4 against Toronto starting on November 1, followed by 2-goal nights against Los Angeles on November 4 and Winnipeg on November 6. Secord scored a team-high 44 goals that season.
November 3, 1948, marked the first time the Hawks hosted the annual NHL All-Star Game in Chicago, as the defending Stanley Cup winner, Toronto, fell to the All-Stars 3-1.
Last year on November 3, Patrick Sharp tied a team record with two short-handed goals in St. Louis. Sharp, along with Ottawa’s Daniel Alfredsson, led the NHL with 7 short-handed goals last season.
