The Chicago Blackhawks announced today the 2011-12 season debut of the Emmy-Award winning Blackhawks TV, an all-access thirty-minute television show that includes a variety of segments highlighting the players’ personalities off the ice. The third season debut can be seen on Comcast SportsNet on Thursday at 7:00 P.M., WGN-TV on Saturday at 12:00 P.M., and NBC5 Chicago on Saturday at 2:00 P.M.
The episode debuts brand new, exclusive footage never before seen on TV or chicagoblackhawks.com, centering around the start of the Blackhawks 2011-12 season with a focus on the sold-out Training Camp Festival. Narrated by Television Journalist Bill Kurtis, the episode brings viewers behind the scenes and into the locker room during team activities in late September, including media day, fitness testing and the first day of on-ice activity, which took place in front of a capacity crowd at the United Center. The show also goes along with Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews to New York City for last month’s National Hockey League Media Tour.
Blackhawks TV has captured two Emmy Awards from the Chicago/Midwest Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and was recently nominated for six more at the upcoming award ceremony in November. Also located on chicagoblackhawks.com, Blackhawks TV has been among the team leaders in the National Hockey League in video start ups over the last three seasons.
