Throughout the week, 2015 draft pick Roy Radke will be blogging for chicagoblackhawks.com about his experiences during his first Blackhawks Prospect Camp.
Yesterday we had physical testing and everything, so it was a little difficult to get going on skates. Today you’re a little sore, so everybody is just feeling each other out right now. The talent here is a little bit better than in the OHL. Everybody is a little quicker, a little faster and stronger, so it’s just something I have to get used to.
It feels good to score three goals in my first scrimmage game. It’s a good start to the week. I’m just going to keep building on my confidence and get more comfortable out there. Hopefully I can keep it going.
I am getting more comfortable with the media. There was a lot of media in the Ontario Hockey League; everybody wanted to know who I was and where I was coming from.
I live in Geneva, Illinois, so I have been to the city a lot. Usually I’ll walk around in the city and get something to eat. I really like going to North Avenue Beach. Being from the Chicago area, I know [2013 sixth-round pick] Anthony Louis really well, and he’s my roommate right now at camp. And I played with Nick Schmaltz growing up. I also know Vinny Hinostroza; he’s in the same advisory as I am. I’m familiar with a bunch of guys here and am getting to know more as camp goes on.
