The Friday Five: Perfect 10

by Leah Hendrickson / Chicago Blackhawks

Each week, the Blackhawks Blog will give you five stats you need to know about the Blackhawks this season.

1. After Wednesday night’s win over the Colorado Avalanche, Ray Emery became the first goalie in NHL history to begin a season with 10 straight wins.
In his 10 starts for the Blackhawks this season, Emery has earned a perfect 10-0-0 record. His 10-game win streak also marks a career high for the second-year Blackhawk.
2. The Blackhawks have allowed a league-low 43 goals and rank first in goals-against average (1.79).
Chicago has also recorded a league-high 249 takeaways this season. In the midst of a franchise-record 11-game win streak, the Blackhawks have earned a point in 24 straight games, marking a franchise record and setting an NHL record for point streak to begin a season.
3. When Patrick Kane posts a multi-point game, the Blackhawks are 77-8-13, including a 7-0-0 mark this season.
The 24-year-old forward has now registered a team-high seven multi-point games this season. Kane is one of just 10 players to record at least 65 points in each of the last five seasons and one of six players to record at least 40 assists in each of those years.
4. Brandon Saad became Chicago’s first rookie to record three points in a single period since Dec. 16, 2008 (T. Brouwer; 2G, 1A), after posting 3 points in the first period on March 5 vs. Minnesota.
Saad was the first to strike for Chicago nearly halfway into the first period and helped Bryan Bickell and Marian Hossa find the net before the first frame came to an end. His first-period production established a career high for the rookie.
5. Jonathan Toews leads the NHL with 30 takeaways so far this season.
The Winnipeg native also ranks fourth in the NHL and first in the Western Conference in faceoff wins (286) and is sixth in win percentage (59.4%, min. 200 faceoffs).
