For the second year in a row, the independent scouting service Red Line Report has rated the Blackhawks as the team that had the best draft.
"Give them a gold star and an A+," Red Line writes. "They had 7 picks and made just about every one count."
Dale Tallon and company selected six players ranked in the top 91 on Red Line's board, including two of the top 25 (Patrick Kane and Maxime Tanguay).
Tanguay (69th) and 2nd round pick Akim Aliu (56th) each "could have been a first rounder on ability alone," according to Red Line.
Red Line also praised the selections of winger Bill Sweatt at #38 ("the best and fastest skater in the draft") and goaltender Josh Unice at #86 ("one of the top three goaltenders in the draft").
Unice will play at Bowling Green this season with Sweatt returning for his sophomore year at Colorado College. Tanguay will return to Rimouski in the QMJHL, while Aliu will suit up for London in the Ontario Hockey League.
St. Louis, Columbus, Pittsburgh and Montreal rounded out Red Line's top 5 draft performers.
