The 2018 World Junior Championships continue to heat up as teams look to the completion of pool play. Thanks in part to the great play of some Blackhawks prospects, all four teams represented by Chicago draft picks will have a great chance to compete once tournament play begins on Tuesday.
F Tim Soderlund, Sweden
The 2017 fourth-round draft pick tallied his first two points of the tournament in two games over the weekend. He tallied a goal in a 7-2 victory over Switzerland and an assist in a 4-3 win over Russia. He has accounted for 11 shots on goal in the WJC and is +3 through four games.
D Henri Jokiharju, Finland
The defenseman kept up his high level of play through the weekend. In Finland's 5-2 victory over Slovakia, the 2017 first-round draft pick shared the team lead with five shots on goal and notched an assist in a 5-4 loss to the United States.
LW Artur Kayumov, Russia
Kayumov, a 2016 second-round pick, remains near the top of the WJC leaderboard in points with five (3G, 2A). With a shot on goal in Russia's 4-3 loss to Sweden, the winger now has nine through four games.
W Andrei Altybarmakyan, Russia
The 2017 third-round draft pick remains at two points in four games with a pair of helpers.
D Jakub Galvas, Czech Republic
Galvas added a shot on goal in Czech Republic's 6-5 victory against Belarus and another in a 6-3 win over Switzerland. The 2017 fifth-round draft pick now has four attempts on goal in his WJC debut.
Jokiharju and Finland will face off with Galvas and the Czech Republic at 11 a.m. (CT) on Tuesday, Jan 2. Soderlund will look to pick up more points against Slovakia at 5 p.m. and the pair of Russian wingers will face team USA at 7 p.m.
