Blackhawk fans will get a glimpse of 1st round draft pick Jack Skille when Prospects Camp kicks off next Monday. They just won't get a glimpse of him in action.
Skille, the 7th overall pick in the 2005 Entry Draft, had routine surgery last week to remove two bone chips from his elbow and will not be able to participate in the camp, which will be held at the Edge in Bensenville. He is still scheduled to attend Prospects Camp, along with fellow '05 draft picks Mike Blunden and Dan Bertram. 2004 draft picks slated to participate include Dave Bolland, Ryan Garlock, Adam Berti and Bryan Bickell.
Skille told chicagoblackhawks.com that he played through the minor injury for much of last season and knew he would need to correct it in the off-season. He recently participated in USA Hockey's National Junior Team Evaluation Camp, which ran from Aug. 6-14 in Lake Placid, NY.
The 6-1, 198-pound right wing expects to be fully recovered for his freshman season at the University of Wisconsin this fall.
Check chicagoblackhawks.com later in the week for complete Prospects Camp schedule and roster information.
