The Chicago Blackhawks today announced that the team has agreed to terms with forward Ryan Donato on a two-year contract that runs through the 2024-25 season ($2,000,000 salary cap hit).

"Ryan adds depth and versatility to our team and will complement our forward group well," said Blackhawks General Manager Kyle Davidson. "He will be a great addition to our system."

Donato, 27, skated in 71 regular-season games with the Seattle Kraken during the 2022-23 campaign, tallying 27 points (14G, 13A). He also posted two assists in 14 Stanley Cup Playoff games last year.

The 6-foot, 190-pound forward has suited up in 325 career NHL regular-season games between the Boston Bruins (2018-19), Minnesota Wild (2019-20), San Jose Sharks (2020-21) and Seattle Kraken (2021-23), amassing 135 points (65G, 70A). The forward has also made three trips to the Stanley Cup Playoffs with the Bruins (2018), Wild (2020) and Kraken (2023), appearing in 19 career postseason games.

The Boston, Massachusetts native represented the United States at the 2018 Winter Olympic Games, leading the team with six points (5G, 1A) in five games, while also sharing first among all tournament skaters with five goals. Additionally, Donato helped Team USA to a bronze medal in the 2021 IIHF World Championship and a bronze medal at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championship.

Donato was originally drafted by the Boston Bruins in the second round (56th overall) in the 2014 NHL Draft.
