Patrick Kane returned to the lineup on Monday night and the rest is history -- literally.
In the Blackhawks' 5-1 win over Ottawa at the United Center, Kane took sole possession of third in all-time franchise goals (408) and moved into third in all-time points (1,097) with a hat trick on the night. It was Chicago's first win of the season, snapping a 0-7-2 start to the year.
Brandon Hagel also scored a pair of goals in the win and Marc-Andre Fleury made 30 stops in his first victory as a Blackhawk and 493rd of all-time.

The Blackhawks got on the board late in the opening frame as Brandon Hagel cleaned up a loose puck in the high slot. Patrick Kane's shot from the circle hit a leg in front and popped right to Hagel, where the winger put a quick shot past a diving Matt Murray for his second in the last three games and a 1-0 lead heading into break.

In his first game back from COVID-19 Protocol, Patrick Kane found the net for the season time on the year in the second period. On a man advantage, the play started and ended with Kane, who worked the puck to Jonathan Toews in the corner, who then found Ryan Carpenter in the slot for a shot that was denied. Kane skated in and pulled the rebound to his backhand before shoveling it into the net for a 2-0 lead.

3rd - 0:27 - Brandon Hagel (Jonathan Toews, Seth Jones)

Chicago opened a three-goal lead in the opening seconds of the third period off a broken play in the offensive zone. Brandon Hagel, circling back to the point, threw a puck towards goal along the ice that, with a Ryan Carpenter screen in front, eluded Matt Murray for Hagel's second of the evening and a 3-0 score.

Patrick Kane took sole possession of third in franchise goals less than a minute later off a rush, taking a cross-ice feed from Erik Gustafsson and putting a shot off the arm of Matt Murray and in for a 4-0 advantage just 82 seconds into the third.
