The Blackhawks offense roared on Wednesday night in the Motor City, setting a season mark with eight tallies in a 8-5 win over the Red Wings.
Dylan Strome scored his first career hat trick in the victory. Dominik Kubalik netted his 10th of the year, Sam Lafferty scored his first as a Blackhawk, Alex DeBrincat his 25th and 26th of the season and Brandon Hagel his 11th as well. Marc-Andre Fleury made 28 saves in his 14th win of the year.

1st - 10:24 - Dominik Kubalik (Seth Jones, Philipp Kurashev)

Chicago's offensive explosion in the first began just past the midpoint of the period. Seth Jones threw a shot towards goal from the boards that trickled through the legs of Alex Nedeljkovic and wide of the net. Dominik Kubalik hovering at the back post, pulled the puck back into the slot with his backhand and then slid a shot into the open net for a 1-0 lead.

1st - 12:40 - Dylan Strome (Alex DeBrincat, Patrick Kane) -- PP

The power play cashed in two minutes later off a tic-tac-toe play in the offensive zone. Seth Jones collected the puck at the near point and sent it down the wall for Patrick Kane, who immediately sent a pass to the far circle for Alex DeBrincat. Chicago's goal leader put a shot towards the goal for an intentional redirect by Dylan Strome alone in the slot, directing the puck over the pad of Alex Nedeljkovic for a 2-0 score.

1st - 14:27 - Dylan Strome (Patrick Kane)

Dylan Strome quickly added his second of the night on his next shift, taking a feed from Patrick Kane off a zone entry and then roofing a shot into the top corner past Alex Nedeljkovic for a 3-0 lead.

1st - 19:28 - Sam Lafferty (Dylan Strome, Jake McCabe)

Already with two goals on the night, Dylan Strome made a bid for his first career hat trick on a partial break entering the zone with a shot turned aside by Alex Nedeljkovic. The centerman picked up his own rebound and quickly found Sam Lafferty at the back post for a tap-in tally and Lafferty's first as a member of The Blackhawks.

2nd - 5:45 - Robby Fabbri

Detroit pulled one back on the Blackhawks in the second. Calvin de Haan went to clear the puck from his own end and put it right into the path of an oncoming Robby Fabbri inside the blue line. Fabbri beat Marc-Andre Fleury in a solo effort for a 4-1 score.

2nd - 6:41 - Tyler Bertuzzi (Filip Hronek)

Just under a minute later, the Red Wings added a second tally when Tyler Bertuzzi followed up his own rebound off an odd-man rush and put the second effort over the blocker of Marc-Andre Fleury for a 4-2 game.

2nd - 19:47 - Pius Suter (Jordan Oesterle, Robby Fabbri)

The Red Wings pulled within a goal in the dying seconds of the middle frame when former Blackhawk Pius Suter found the net against his old team. The winger took a pass in the high slot from fellow-former Hawk Jordan Oesterle, turned and put a wrister past three bodies screening Marc-Andre Fleury in front and in for a 4-3 score.

Dylan Strome completed the hat trick on the power play in the third, tipping home a Seth Jones shot in front. Alex DeBrincat picked up the puck from the net to commemorate Strome's night.

Caleb Jones broke up a Red Wings rush and immediately turned the play the other way, finding Jonathan Toews in the neutral zone. Toews and Alex DeBrincat exchanged passes in a 3-on-1 before the former fed the latter with a backdoor feed, tapped in for a 6-3 score.

Detroit pulled within two later in the third on the power play as Lucas Raymond tee'd up Moritz Seider at the point for a one-timer that eluded the glove of Marc-Andre Fleury through a screen in front for a 6-4 game.

It was a one-goal game again late when Dylan Larkin rang a shot off the post and in behind Marc-Andre Fleury for a 6-5 scoreline.
