It was a goal-heavy affair in Columbus as the Blue Jackets erased a pair of two-goal deficits in a combined 10-goal 60 minutes of regulation, but the Blackhawks were able to prevail with a 6-5 shootout victory on Tuesday night at Nationwide Arena in Ohio.
Carl Soderberg, Patrick Kane, Brandon Hagel, Dominik Kubalik and Adam Boqvist all scored for Chicago to get to the extra frame. Alex DeBrincat scored the lone shootout attempt to seal the win. Kevin Lankinen made 25 saves on the night, including five big stops in overtime and another three stops in the shootout.

BLACKHAWK OF THE GAME: With his second four-point outing (1G, 3A) already this season, Kane led the way for the Blackhawks on Tuesday night.
STAT OF THE NIGHT: Hagel scored his first NHL goal and Pius Suter added an assist, the 16th goal and 16th assist by Blackhawks rookies this season. The 32 points scored by Chicago first-year players leads the NHL in that category.
UP NEXT: Chicago closes out their current five-game road trip on Thursday night with a rematch against the Blue Jackets (6 p.m. CT - NBCSCH).

Carl Soderberg notched his second straight power-play tally dating back to the dying minutes of Friday's game in Carolina. The centerman, playing a net-front role on the man advantage, had a Patrick Kane shot hit him in front, but the veteran was able to clean up the chance by swatting the loose puck past Joonas Korpisalo for a 1-0 lead.

Patrick Kane, who had his shot attempt blocked on the opening tally, made good for it less than two minutes later. Mattias Janmark broke up a Max Domi breakout pass at the Jackets' blue line, with the puck redirecting right to Pius Suter still inside the offensive zone. Alone 2-on-0 with Kane, Suter slide a pass across the crease off the abbreviated rush for No. 88's ninth of the season.

Columbus cut the lead in half shortly thereafter as Boone Jenner sprung Cam Atkinson on a breakaway with a chip from the neutral zone. The winger beat Kevin Lankinen in all alone for his eighth of the season, making it a 2-1 game.

2nd - 0:48 - Patrik Laine (Seth Jones, Jack Roslovic) - PPG

The Blue Jackets needed just 48 seconds in the middle frame to tie things up as Patrik Laine converted a Seth Jones one-time feed off a faceoff just six seconds into Columbus' opening power play of the night.

2nd - 8:12 - Brandon Hagel (Patrick Kane, Carl Soderberg)

Rookie Brandon Hagel finally found twine in his 17th game of the season after numerous close encounters in recent weeks. Hagel worked to keep a puck in the offensive zone along the far boards, sent it to Carl Soderberg in the corner, who found Kane in front for a look. Kane's shot deflected over the goal, but he chased his own chance down and found Hagel out front for the score, 3-2.

Laine tied things up for the second time in the frame from nearly an identical spot on the power play, though not in one-time fashion. Taking a cross-ice feed from Cam Atkinson, the winger opted for a wrister to beat Kevin Lankinen to tie things up, 3-3.

Off a set faceoff play in the offensive end, Carl Soderberg won a draw back to Duncan Keith at the point, who paused, allowing Dominik Kubalik to work his way to the point, before teeing up the sophomore winger for a one-time blast. Kubalik's shot from distance was a blind look for Joonas Korpisalo in goal courtesy of a Mattias Janmark screen in the slot, finding twine for a 4-3 lead.

On a 5-on-3 advantage, Adam Boqvist netted his first goal of the season on a one-timer near the bottom of the left circle. After working the puck around in the offensive zone, Dominik Kubalik fed Patrick Kane, who found a wide-open Boqvist for the booming one-timer and a 5-3 lead.

Columbus found their third power-play goal on the night at the midpoint of the third period as Oliver Bjorkstrand put home a Jack Roslovic one-time feed from nearly the same spot as Patrik Laine's pair of man-advantage tallies in the second period for a 5-4 scoreline.
