RECAP: Blackhawks Fall to Rangers Late, 6-2

The Blackhawks fell to the New York Rangers on Tuesday night at the United Center, 6-2, as the visitors completed the season series sweep with the second meeting in four days.
Erik Gustafsson netted his first of the season just over 100 seconds in and Kirby Dach broke a 17-game goal drought with his third of the season a short while later. Marc-Andre Fleury made 24 saves on the night, but a pair of power-play goals from New York proved the difference in his bid for his 500th career victory.

The visitors took just 61 seconds to open the scoring on the night as Jacob Trouba walked in from the point with space and wired a wrister blocker side on Marc-Andre Fleury for an early 1-0 lead.

1st - 1:44 - Erik Gustafsson

Chicago answered 43 seconds later on a point shot of their own. Off an offensive-zone faceoff, the Rangers chipped a puck to the point on a clearing attempt between Erik Gustafsson and Riley Stillman at the point. Gustafsson kept the puck in the zone with an outstretched stick and then floated a shot towards the goal that caught Alexandar Georgiev off guard and beat him glove side into the top corner for a 1-1 score.

1st - 7:09 - Kirby Dach (Alex DeBrincat, Dylan Strome)

The Blackhawks capitalized off a faceoff from the same dot a few minutes later for their second tally of the night. Dylan Strome won a draw cleanly back to Alex DeBrincat along the boards, where the winger put a shot towards goal through traffic. His wrister hit Kirby Dach driving the net in front, but the third-year forward quickly found the rebound and chipped a shot past Alexandar Georgiev for a 2-1 lead.

2nd - 3:19 - Artemi Panarin (Mika Zibanejad, Chris Kreider) -- PP

On the game's opening power play early in the second, it was the Rangers' turn to tie the game as Artemi Panarin found twine in his former home arena. Mika Zibanejad found the Bread Man open at the weak-side dot with a cross-ice pass that Panarin slotted home past a diving Fleury for a 2-2 score.

3rd - 4:59 - Chris Kreider (Adam Fox, Artemi Panarin) -- PP

After a scoreless middle frame, the Rangers took the lead back again on the power play in the third period. Off a point shot from Adam Fox, Chris Kreider tipped a puck past Marc-Andre Fleury at the edge of the crease for a 3-2 advantage.

New York opened the first multi-goal lead of the night later in the third as the fourth line found the net. Off a zone entry, Adam Fox left a puck for the late trailing Kevin Rooney, who put a wrister through traffic from the high slot that Marc-Andre Fleury never saw on its path to the net for a 4-2 score.
