Minutes into the contest, the Coyotes opened the scoring as rookie Dysin Mayo walked in from the point and put a hard shot on goal. The defenseman picked up a drop pass from Shayne Gostisbehere at the blue line, worked his way down the boards and cut towards goal, putting a rising wrister on goal that elevated over the shoulder of Marc-Andre Fleury for a 1-0 lead.

1st - 19:06 - Johan Larsson (Janis Moser, Shayne Gostisbehere)

Just before the end of the first, the home team doubled their early lead off a point shot by Janis Moser. The puck deflected off the torso of Adam Larsson in front and back against the grain of Marc-Andre Fleury's right-to-left slide for a 2-0 lead before the break.

CHI: 1, ARI: 2

2nd - 1:02 - Kirby Dach (Philipp Kurashev, Connor Murphy)

Kirby Dach got the Blackhawks on the board with gusto early in the second period. Phillip Kurashev was robbed at the doorstep, putting a Connor Murphy rebound back on goal in tight, but the puck shot straight into the air. Dach skated in from the dot and batted the falling puck out of midair firmly into the back of the net to cut it to a 2-1 game.

CHI@ARI: Dach's swinging effort goes in

Chicago pulled even a few minutes later off a rush up the ice. Jonathan Toews delivered a beautiful saucer pass across to MacKenzie Entwistle in 2-on-1 situation, where the winger caught the pass and quickly elevated it over the pad of Karel Vejmelka for a 2-2 score.

2nd - 9:56 - Travis Boyd (Phil Kessel, Janis Moser) -- PP

Arizona answered to regain the lead on a man advantage at the game's midpoint. Off a scramble from the power play's opening faceoff, the puck found its way to Janis Moser at the point, who sent it across the point to Phil Kessel on the weak side. The veteran patiently walked down the wall and then found Travis Boyd backdoor in the slot for a tap-in tally and a 3-2 lead.

CHI: 2, ARI: 4

3rd - 3:10 - Clayton Keller (Travis Boyd)

The Coyotes made it a two-goal game once again in the third period as Clayton Keller walked the blue line in the offensive end and put a shot towards goal that Marc-Andre Fleury never saw coming with four bodies in the slot screening the play. Chicago challenged the play for goaltender interference, but none was determined to have taken place.

CHI: 2, ARI: 5

3rd - 4:01 - Johan Larsson (Travis Boyd, Phil Kessel) -- PP

Off the failed challenge, the Blackhawks went to the penalty kill once again, where Arizona made it a 5-2 affair. Travis Boyd sent a cross-ice feed to Johan Larsson at the side of the goal for a quick one-timer that beat a sliding Marc-Andre Fleury to find twine.

CHI: 3, ARI: 5

3rd - 6:29 - Jonathan Toews (Jake McCabe, Riley Stillman)

The captain answered with a gritty goal less than three minutes later, driving the net and redirecting a Jake McCabe point shot home to make it a 5-3 score. It was the second straight game Jonathan Toews scored a net-front tally.

CHI@ARI: Toews scores in 3rd period

A Patrick Kane shot from the point ricocheted off the end boards and back in front, where Strome hit the puck in midair across the crease to DeBrincat on the far side, who connected off the first bounce to make it a 5-4 game.
