Quigley, Illinois delegation honors Blackhawks championship with Resolution

by Office of Congressman Mike Quigley / Chicago Blackhawks

WASHINGTON – Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), along with the entire Illinois House delegation, honored the Chicago Blackhawks and the team’s 2015 NHL Stanley Cup Championship by introducing a House Resolution in their honor. Rep. Quigley also won Florida goods in his wager with Reps. David Jolly (FL-13) and Dennis Ross (FL-15) over the outcome of the Blackhawks vs. Lightning series.

“I couldn’t be more proud of the Chicago Blackhawks, who overcame the aggressive play and young talent of the Tampa Bay Lightning to win the 2015 Stanley Cup Championship,” said Rep. Quigley. “It is because of the hard work and dedication of every player, coach, and the entire Blackhawks family that the madness is back on Madison Street and Lord Stanley's Cup is back where it belongs, sweet home Chicago.”

The entire Illinois House delegation cosponsored the resolution, including Reps. Mike Bost (IL-12), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Danny Davis (IL-07), Rodney Davis (IL-13), Bob Dold (IL-10), Tammy Duckworth (IL-08), Bill Foster (IL-11), Luis Gutierrez (IL-04), Randy Hultgren (IL-14), Robin Kelly (IL-02), Adam Kinzinger (IL-16), Dan Lipinski (IL-03), Peter Roskam (IL-06), Bobby Rush (IL-01), Jan Schakwosky (IL-09), and John Shimkus (IL-15).

Rep. Quigley is a die-hard Chicago Blackhawks fan who began playing hockey when he was six years old and still plays regularly when he is back home in the District. He is a co-chair of the Congressional Hockey Caucus, a bipartisan group of Members of Congress dedicated to advocating for the expansion of hockey programs in America. He has worked with the Blackhawks to expand access to floor hockey programs to at-risk youth throughout the Chicago area and to the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community through Center on Halsted.
