Blackhawks prospects Kyle Beach
and Brandon Pirri
have been named to their respective conference All-Star teams. Beach, a winger for Spokane, was selected to the West Conference First All-Star team in the Western Hockey League, while Pirri, a college forward for RPI, made the All-Rookie squad and was named the ECAC Rookie of the Year.
Beach, a Kelowna, B.C. native was the leading goal scorer in the WHL this season with 52 goals in 68 games played. Among his many achievements, Beach finished second on Spokane in total points (86), first in PIM (186) and first in PPG (16).
The Blackhawks' first round pick in the 2008 Entry Draft, Beach has spent the past five seasons in the WHL playing for the Everett Silvertips (2005-08) and Lethbridge Hurricanes (2008-09) before being traded to the Spokane Chiefs for the 2009-10 campaign. Beach signed a three-year entry-level contract with the Blackhawks in May of 2009.
Pirri, the ECAC's top rookie scorer with 43 total points (11 goals, 32 assists) in 39 games, was chosen by the Blackhawks in the second round of the 2009 Entry Draft. Prior to starting his freshman campaign with RPI, Pirri spent last season in the Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL), splitting his time between the Streetsville Derbys and the Georgetown Raiders. Pirri racked up 94 total points (46 goals, 48 assists) in 44 games.
