Prospect roundup: DeBrincat nears two club records

by Emerald Gao / Digital Content Coordinator

On Mondays, chicagoblackhawks.com will highlight players who stood out for their minor-league, junior, college or European teams in the previous week's action. All prospect/system stats will be updated weekly throughout the season.

1st Star: RW Alex DeBrincat, Erie Otters (OHL)
The Line: 3GP, 5G, 1A

DeBrincat has become an unstoppable force entering the last few weeks of the Ontario Hockey League season, continuing to pile up points at a historic rate. The 2016 second-round pick scored two goals and added an assist on a career-best 11 shots on goal on Friday in a 10-1 win over Niagara, tallied the next night in a 5-3 loss to Sarnia, and finished the weekend with another pair of goals and 10 SOG in a 9-7 loss at Niagara. DeBrincat extended his point streak to 21 games and his goal streak to 17; he needs four goals to match the club record of 64 goals in a season set by Dane Fox in 2013-14, and 10 points to equal current teammate Dylan Strome's single-season record of 129 set in 2014-15.

2nd Star: RW Matheson Iacopelli, Western Michigan University (NCHC)
The Line: 2GP, 1G, 3A

Iacopelli recorded a pair of multi-point games last weekend to help WMU achieve a split against Minnesota-Duluth. The 2014 third-round pick notched two assists in Friday's 7-4 win, then tallied a goal and a helper the next night in a 6-3 loss. Iacopelli became the third Blackhawks prospect to reach the 20-goal mark in the NCAA this season, joining John Hayden and Dylan Sikura. He continues to lead the Broncos with 34 points in 34 games this season while ranking second in the conference in goals.

3rd Star: RW Roy Radke, Barrie Colts (OHL)
The Line: 3GP, 4G, 1A

Radke notched a hat trick -- including the overtime winner -- in a 4-3 victory against North Bay last Thursday, marking the third three-goal performance of his OHL career. The 2015 sixth-round pick added an assist on Saturday against Peterborough and netted his 22nd goal of the season the next night at Ottawa; he ranks third on the team with 34 points despite skating in just 39 games this season.
