Patrick Lalime will get the call in net Friday against St. Louis. Lalime stopped 24 of 26 shots in Wednesday night's 5-2 win over Columbus and is 3-1 this season with a 2.38 goals against average. Savard said Nikolai Khabibulin is still the club's #1 goalie but that he has to "go with his gut" in giving Lalime another start.
With Kevyn Adams likely out for the rest of the season following an ACL/MCL injury to his left knee Wednesday, look for Adam Burish to center the 4th line. Burish played both center and wing in college ... A healthy scracth the past five games, Sergei Samsonov will re-join the lineup with Burish and right wing Martin Lapointe Friday night.
Martin Havlat took another step toward his return Thursday but still does not have a timetable for his return to the ice. Havlat said his injured shoulder is getting stronger every day and, if the decision were up to him, he'd already be back in the lineup. Savard thought Havlat looked good at practice Thursday won't hesitate to use him once the doctors clear him to play.
When Havlat does return, expect him to join center Robert Lang and winger Jason Williams. Despite their 'top line' play, Savard has no intentions of breaking up the 'kid' line of Jonathan Toews
, Patrick Kane
and Tuomo Ruutu.
Tough guy David Koci, out since Oct. 25 with a broken nose, is practicing with the team and is expected back in the lineup during the second half of the team's upcoming West Coast road swing.
