The Chicago Blackhawks have recalled forward Brandon Pirri
from the American Hockey League’s Rockford IceHogs, and placed forward Jonathan Toews
on Injured Reserve.
Pirri, 20, has registered two assists and a +3 rating in four contests with the Blackhawks this year and paced Chicago with four goals and five points in four games during the 2011 preseason. The Toronto native leads the IceHogs with 18 goals and a +12 plus/minus rating, and ranks eighth in the AHL with 41 points (18G, 23A) in 41 tilts this season.
Toews, 23, ranks second in the NHL with 27 goals, and second on the Blackhawks with 50 points (27G, 23A) in 49 games this season. The Winnipeg, Manitoba, native was honored as a National League All-Star this year for the third time in his career, and paces the NHL in both faceoff winning percentage and takeaways.
The Blackhawks will host the Nashville Predators at the United Center tonight (Jan. 24) at 7:30 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcast locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago and can be heard on WGN Radio AM-720.
