-- The last thing the Chicago Blackhawks needed was another injured star player to deal with, but it looks like that might be the case.
Just 23 seconds into Sunday night's home game against Calgary, forward Patrick Kane
appeared to injure his left leg after falling and sliding into the boards inside the Flames' zone. He was also checked on the play, but appeared to have already fallen by the time Flames defender Cory Sarich came along.
Kane stayed on the ice in pain as trainers came out to attend to him. They helped him up and helped him off the ice, with Kane unable to put his full weight on the left skate.
Kane is one of Chicago's hottest players, having scored 15 points in his last 13 games and has 27 points (11 goals) overall. The Hawks are already without injured star forward Marian Hossa
for roughly 2-3 weeks with a lower-body injury.
It was announced during the first intermission that Kane suffered a lower-body injury and that he would not return to Sunday's game.
