by Staff Writer / Chicago Blackhawks

Current Chicago Blackhawks television game analyst Ed Olczyk will visit the Oak Lawn Park District Ice Arena on Friday, September 15 from 7:00-8:30 p.m. as part of the festivities surrounding the Brother Rice Crusader South Suburban Junior Varsity Hockey Invitational.

Before embarking on his 16-year NHL career, Olczyk attended Brother Rice High School. Olczyk was selected by the Blackhawks in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft as the third overall selection. Olczyk returns to the Blackhawks this season, he will provide analysis during Chicago Blackhawk game presentations on Comcast SportsNet. Olczyk will also be the lead game analyst for the NHL on NBC and the NHL on Versus.

"I'm happy to be asked by Brother Rice hockey to help support their tournament," Olczyk said. "When I was growing up and learning the game, we had plenty of help from the adults in our community. This is a chance for me to give back to those who support hockey on the South Side."

The Crusader JV Invitational begins on Thursday, September 14 at 6 p.m. and will continue through Sunday, September 17 at 3 p.m. when the championship game begins. Admission to tournament games is $2 per game. Students displaying a high school I.D., and kids under age 12 will be admitted for no charge. The appearance by Ed Olczyk is subject to change.
