The following statement was issued today by Chicago Blackhawks Head Team Physician Dr. Michael Terry:
“Trevor van Riemsdyk suffered a left patella fracture after taking a shot to the left knee in Sunday's game against Dallas. He will undergo surgical repair of the fracture tomorrow, Thursday, Nov. 20. We anticipate a full recovery in three to four months and look forward to his return."
van Riemsdyk, 23, has one assist in 18 games in his first professional season with the Blackhawks. Signed as a free agent on March 24, 2014, van Riemsdyk tallied his first professional point with an assist on Nov. 9 against San Jose. The Middletown, N.J., native previously recorded 75 points (16g, 59a) in three seasons at the University of New Hampshire.
The Blackhawks return to action on Thursday when they face off against the Calgary Flames at 8 p.m. CT. The game can be seen on Comcast SportsNet and heard on WGN Radio AM-720 (also simulcast on 87.7FM The Game).
