Blackhawks defenseman Duncan Keith will make a special appearance at the Meijer Store in Rolling Meadows on Tuesday, October 13 to promote healthy living through a cooking workshop demonstration with Meijer Healthy Living Advisor Maribel Cabrales. Keith will don the apron from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M., and help Maribel cook a healthy version of Hillshire Farm Hearty Slices Oven Roasted Chicken Sandwich as part of one of four “Cooking with the Blackhawks” segments for this season. From 6:00 to 7:00 P.M., Keith will sign autographs for the first 200 people in line that received a priority wristband (handed out at 4:00 P.M.). Blackhawks Radio Color Analyst Troy Murray will moderate the session.
Last season, Blackhawks blueliner Brent Sopel and Assistant Coaches Mike Haviland and John Torchetti assisted with cooking demonstrations. Keith, 26, has led the Blackhawks in time on ice for four straight years entering the 2009-10 season, which includes ranking seventh overall in the NHL with an average time on ice of 24:38 last season. A native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, he is the active leader with 324 career games in a Blackhawks uniform, racking up 129 points (31G, 98A) during that five-year span. Last season, Keith led NHL defensemen with a +33 plus/minus rating while collecting career highs with 36 assists and 44 points in 77 regular-season games.
