Vincent Hinostroza and the United States Hockey League's Waterloo Black Hawks took home silver in the 2012 Junior Club World Cup in Omsk, Russia, after falling 2-0 to the Ontario Hockey League's Sudbury Wolves.
The Illinois native, who was the Blackhawks' sixth-round draft pick in 2012, led the Black Hawks squad to the tournament final with a game-tying tally in the final seconds of the semifinal match against Linkopings of the Swedish Elite League. Hinostroza went on to score two penalty shots to secure his team’s trip to the championship game.
The final game remained scoreless for the first 40 minutes, but Sudbury's Josh Leivo converted on a breakaway 7:55 into the third period to put Sudbury up 1-0. Just 35 seconds later, Frank Corrado netted a wrister to put the game away.
Hinostroza finished the tournament with five points (3G, 2A) and six penalty minutes in six games.
