Hawks Host Red Wings In 2007-08 Opener

The Chicago Blackhawks announced their 2007-08 season schedule today highlighted by hosting the Detroit Red Wings in their home opener on Saturday, October 6th, at 7:30 p.m. at the United Center. Click here for complete schedule.

The Blackhawks will open the season on Thursday night, October 4th, when they travel to Minnesota to take on the Wild.

This season’s schedule will feature seven (7) Friday night games, three (3) Saturday night games, and five (5) Sunday afternoon games. Aside from hosting Detroit on Saturday night October 6th, the Blackhawks will host the Dallas Stars on Saturday night October 13th and the Atlanta Thrashers on Saturday night October 27th.

The Blackhawks will play seven Friday night home games which will include games against the Colorado Avalanche on October 19th, the St. Louis Blues on November 9th, the Phoenix Coyotes on November 30th, the Stanley Cup Champion Anaheim Ducks on December 7th, the Minnesota Wild on January 11th, the San Jose Sharks on March 7th, and the Nashville Predators on April 4th.

The Blackhawks will also play 13 Sunday home games this season, five of which will be matinee games. The Blackhawks will host the Colorado Avalanche on Sunday afternoon, February 17th , in a game that begins at 12:00 noon. They will host the Vancouver Canucks in a matinee on March 2nd at 2:00 p.m., the Edmonton Oilers on March 9th at 2:00 p.m., the Calgary Flames on March 16th at 2:00 p.m., and the St. Louis Blues on March 23rd at 2:00 p.m.

The month by month home game schedule breakdown will be as follows: 7 games in October, 6 games in November, 9 games in December, 5 games in January, 3 games in February, 9 games in March, and 2 games in April.

The month by month road game schedule breakdown will be as follows: 5 games in October, 7 games in November, 3 games in December, 9 games in January, 10 games in February, 6 games in March, and 1game in April.

The Blackhawks will also have back-to-back games 20 times this season.
