Hawks Claim Anderson, Assign Crawford

by Staff Writer / Chicago Blackhawks

The Blackhawks announced this afternoon that they have claimed goaltender Craig Anderson off waivers from the St. Louis Blues. Anderson will rejoin the Blackhawks in Nashville in time for tomorrow night's game against the Predators. Goaltender Corey Crawford has been assigned to Norfolk in the AHL.

Anderson had been claimed off waivers from the Blackhawks by the Boston Bruins back on January 19th. He subsequently was claimed by St. Louis off waivers from Boston on January 30th before coming back to the Blackhawks today. He did not appear in a game for either Boston or St. Louis.

Crawford was recalled from Norfolk by the Blackhawks on January 22nd after Craig Anderson had been claimed by Boston and Nikolai Khabibulin went down with a knee injury.

Crawford appeared in his first NHL game against the Minnesota Wild on January 22nd coming in relief and not allowing a goal on 7 shots. He made his first NHL start last night in St. Louis in a 6-5 shootout loss.
