Game Notes: Dec. 8 vs. Buffalo Sabres

LAST GAME

The Blackhawks fell to the Capitals 6-2 on Wednesday night at Capital One Arena. Lance Bouma and Jonathan Toews tallied one goal each for Chicago. Anton Forsberg made seven saves, and J.F. Berube stopped 12 shots in the loss.

VS. SABRES

Chicago holds a 53-52-13-1 mark all-time against Buffalo, including a 34-18-6-1 record at home. The Blackhawks swept the two-game season series with a 2-0-0 record against the Sabres last season. Patrick Kane paced the team with five points (2G, 3A) in two meetings against Buffalo a season ago. Kane (8G, 7A) leads the Blackhawks with 15 career points in 13 games against the Sabres. Anton Forsberg has a 0-1-0 record against Buffalo in his career.

SABRE STOPPERS

The Blackhawks have won their last 11 matchups against the Sabres, dating back to Oct. 11, 2010, and haven't fallen at home to Buffalo since Jan. 10, 2007.   • DeBrincat posted his 20th point (11G, 9A) this season with an assist. His 20 points on the year share fourth among league rookies.
  • Connor Murphy tallied his fourth assist of the season. He now has five points (1G, 4A) this year. He also set a season high with four shots on goal.
  • Duncan Keith paced the team with seven shots in a team-high 23:01 of ice time. The seven shots on goal were the most shots recorded for Keith since he posted seven on Dec. 23, 2013 against New Jersey.

THREE OPPONENTS TO WATCH

LW Evander Kane: The former fourth-overall pick in the NHL Draft paces Buffalo with 25 points (13G, 12A) this year. Kane's career high 57 points (30G, 27A) came during the 2011-12 season as a member of the Winnipeg Jets. He comes into Friday night's matchup against Chicago with two points (1G, 1A) in his last two games.

C Jack Eichel: Eichel notched two points (1G, 1A) on Tuesday night against Colorado. It was his team-leading sixth multi-point game of the season. The former Boston University forward tallied a career-high 57 points (24G, 33A) a season ago. He has three points (1G, 2A) in four career matchups against the Blackhawks.

D Ramus Ristolainen: The Turku, Finland, native logged 30:42 of ice time Tuesday night against Colorado. It was his first time this season and 10th game of his career recording 30:00 or more of ice time. His 27:00 of average TOI ranks second among all National Hockey League skaters.
