Blackhawks prospect Rob Flick
played a key role in Mississauga St. Michael's 3-1 victory over the Owen Sound Attack Wednesday night, tallying the eventual game-winning goal for the Majors and advancing the hometown team to the Memorial Cup Semifinal.
Tied 1-1 with time winding down in the second period, Flick and the Majors took advantage of a 5-on-3 power play opportunity, and the 20-year-old center wristed a shot over the glove of Attack netminder Jordan Binnington to take the lead. The Majors would add an empty-netter in the third period to seal the win.
Flick was named the first star for the second straight game while Majors goalie J.P. Anderson received third-star honors after stopping 21 shots.
The Blackhawks' 2010 draft pick has 3 points (2G, A) in three Memorial Cup contests, as well as 10 penalty minutes.
Mississauga returns to the ice Friday night, playing the winner of Thursday's Owen Sound-Kootenay matchup, for the right to face Saint John in the Memorial Cup Championship game. The Majors are seeking their first Memorial Cup championship since 1961.
