General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the Blackhawks have assigned defenseman Dustin Byfuglien to Norfolk in the AHL.
Byfuglien scored a key goal in the third period on Tuesday night at Nashville to tie the game at 2-2 as the Blackhawks rallied to defeat the Predators 3-2 in a shootout. Byfuglien returned to Norfolk on Wednesday night and was in the lineup as the Admirals dropped a 3-1 decision to Wilkes-Barre.
Byfuglien was recalled yesterday morning and was in the lineup last night when the Blackhawks defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 in a shootout. He returns to Norfolk tonight and will be in the lineup when the Admirals host Wilkes-Barre. This will be Byfuglien's fourth game in four nights in four different cities. Norfolk travels to Hershey to play on Saturday night.
Byfuglien has spent most of this season playing at Norfolk in the American Hockey League. He has appeared in 58 games for the Admirals scoring 15 goals, including 7 on the power play, while adding 27 assists for 42 points with 136 penalty minutes and a +10 rating.
