Glenbrook

There hasn't been much separation between the top four girls varsity hockey teams in Illinois this season.
New Trier, Loyola, Fenwick and Glenbrook combined to outscore their opponents 28-2 in the quarterfinals. Playing each other in the semis?
New Trier beat Loyola 4-3 and Glenbrook beat Fenwick 1-0.
Glenbrook will look to make it back-to-back championships on Saturday, March 24, when they take on a New Trier squad hoping to capture their ninth state title at the United Center.

"I was telling the girls today that they deserve to go there," New Trier head coach Bill Brush said. "Clean pucks, nice locker rooms. I said you deserve to be there and you owe it to yourself to work hard and get there."

It looked as though New Trier had clinched their spot in the state title game with a Kate McLaughlin goal midway through the third period to go up 3-1. Loyola scored two minutes later and the Ramblers would complete the comeback after pulling their goalie with 40 seconds left.
Neither team could break through in the first overtime, but it was McLaughlin who sent the Trevians through with a backhand winner in double overtime.
Glenbrook is a combined team open to students from Glenbrook South, Glenbrook North, Regina and Christian Heritage Academy. After a Hannah Jensen goal gave the Titans a 1-0 lead in the first period, Glenbrook South held off Fenwick to secure a return trip to the United Center.
"Our coach always says 'It's hard to win a championship game, but it's even harder to win a second time around," Glenbrook captain Chloe Carroll said. "We're nervous, but we're really excited. We can't wait to go back there and show them what we've got."
General admission tickets for the event, which include parking, are available for $5, and can be purchased online at chicagoblackhawks.com, in person at the United Center Box Office or by calling Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000.
The Boys Red Division State Championship game will be broadcasted live on NBC Sports Chicago and streamed on NBCSportsChicago.com with Chris Boden and Jamal Mayers on the call.
