Chicago, IL – Dave Bolland
, center for the Chicago Blackhawks and a member of their 2010 Stanley Cup Championship team, will launch The Dave Bolland
Foundation with a special invitation-only event in the Screen Room at The Wit Hotel in Chicago (201 N. State Street) on Monday, February 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
The Dave Bolland Foundation, which is dedicated to helping marginalized and at-risk youth, will focus on three projects: Chicago’s Beyond the Ball, Toronto’s The Remix Project, and International disability charity Easter Seals. The goal is to raise awareness and funds in order to assist community programming through education and mentorship initiatives in sport and the arts.
“I recognize the value and significance of mentorship, guidance and goal-setting in a young person’s life,” said Bolland. “These are the keys to success. I want to help youth from less privileged backgrounds have the opportunity to be inspired and to pursue their dreams”.
Dave’s commitment to social causes and issues comes from an honest place. Growing up in a working class neighborhood like Mimico, ONT, Dave was no stranger to the ills of society. Taught to work hard and to take care of the people around you, Dave’s success has allowed for the ethics he was raised upon to start to permeate more and more of his public and personal life. Working closely with the ISSA Family Foundation, Dave began getting involved in the Chicago community through a series of food drives and community events that ISSA was doing. Around the same time, inspired and in support of a close friend back home in Toronto, Dave started to get involved with arts and cultural incubator, The Remix Project. Becoming an official ambassador of the organization in 2011, Dave hosted the first annual Dave Bolland Golf Classic in fundraising support of The Remix Project.
