CSN To Celebrate Denis Savard's Blackhawks Heritage Night

Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Western Conference/Central Division first place Chicago Blackhawks, is planning two nights of special coverage on March 8 and March 10 to celebrate “Blackhawks Heritage Night” honoring Chicago Blackhawks legend and Hockey Hall of Famer Denis Savard.


On Monday, March 8 at 7:00 PM
, Comcast SportsNet will carry a special edition of “Blackhawks Classics” featuring a playoff game telecast from April 25, 1985 when Savard and the Blackhawks faced the rival Minnesota North Stars in Game 4 of the Norris Division Finals. This condensed re-telecast of this historic double-OT victory by the Blackhawks features a stellar performance from “Savoir-Faire” as he posted two goals and two assists, which included an assist to current Blackhawks game analyst Eddie Olczyk and a game-tying goal in the third period. This “Classic” replay also features some of biggest stars in Blackhawks history including Steve Larmer, Al Secord, Doug Wilson, Troy Murray, Darryl Sutter, Tom Lysiak and Murray Bannerman.

On Wednesday, March 10 at 7:30 PM
, Comcast SportsNet will bring viewers LIVE coverage of the “Blackhawks Heritage Night” pre-game ceremony from the United Center (prior to the team’s battle against the Los Angeles Kings) featuring a Savard career highlights video tribute from the UC Jumbotron, along with the ceremonial first puck drop. Prior to the game, Savard will also make guest appearances on Chicago Tribune Live presented by Harris Bank at 5:30 PM with host David Kaplan and Chevy Blackhawks Pre-Game Live at 7:00 PM with hosts Chris Boden and Steve Konroyd. In addition, SportsNite presented by GMC at 6:30 PM will present a feature story on Savard’s passion for coaching youth hockey and his desire to continually share the love of the game with the younger generation. Another Savard feature story about his impressive Hall of Fame memorabilia collection in his home will be shown during SportsNite presented by DEX at 10:00 PM.

In addition, Comcast SportsNet’s newly-enhanced website, CSNChicago.com, will provide video highlights of the on-ice, pre-game ceremony from the United Center, along with video of the Savard feature stories airing on SportsNite on March 10. Plus – CSNChicago.com Blackhawks “Insider” Brett Ballantini will post a new feature story about Savard and his legendary accomplishments over the years.
