Comcast SportsNet Announces Blackhawks Programming During Olympics Break

Chicago, IL (February 15, 2010) – Already missing the Chicago Blackhawks during the current Winter Olympics break?  No need to worry as Comcast SportsNet, the television home for the most games and most comprehensive coverage of the Western Conference/Central Division first place Chicago Blackhawks, will provide fans with replays of five top games from the current 2009-10 regular season, along with the latest episode of “Blackhawks TV,” plus, some entertaining Blackhawks features on SportsNite and a new half-hour SportsNite presented by DEX Blackhawks special.  In addition, Comcast SportsNet’s newly-enhanced website, CSNChicago.com, will continue to provide Blackhawks fans with the very latest news and team updates/blog reports from Blackhawks “Insider” Brett Ballantini 24/7.

BLACKHAWKS CLASSICS:

  • February 17 at 3:00 PM         (Blackhawks vs. Colorado, 2009-10 Home Opener, 4-3 SO win, from Oct. 9)
  • February 19 at 3:30 PM         (Blackhawks at San Jose, Hossa debut game, 7-2 win, from Nov. 25)
  • February 21 at 12:00 PM       (Blackhawks vs. NY Rangers, 2-1 OT win, from Dec. 9)
  • February 25 at 7:00 PM         (Blackhawks vs. Boston, 5-4 SO win, from Dec. 18)
  • February 27 at 7:00 PM         (Blackhawks at San Jose, 4-3 OT win, from Jan. 28)

“BLACKHAWKS TV”:
Comcast SportsNet will air the latest installment of “Blackhawks TV,” an all-access thirty-minute television show that includes a variety of segments highlighting the players’ personalities off the ice on Tuesday, February 16 at 10:30 PM with an additional airing on Monday, February 22 at 9:30 PM. 

The second installment of “Blackhawks TV” includes all new, exclusive footage never before seen on TV or chicagoblackhawks.com, including a newlyweds game show featuring forwards Troy Brouwer, Colin Fraser and their wives; a mini Blackhawks Olympics pitting American and Canadian players, including Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews, against one another in a variety of humorous events; a segment that uncovers “alternate” player nicknames, plus appearances by Blackhawks Ambassadors.

“SPORTSNITE” BLACKHAWKS FEATURES:
Comcast SportsNet’s nightly sports news, information and highlights program, SportsNite presented by DEX, will be airing three Blackhawks-related feature stories beginning February 21 that will be of great interest to old and new fans of the team.  They include…

“The Anthem” (airing Sun, February 21 at 10:00 PM):  SportsNite takes a close look at the amazing popularity of the National Anthem at Blackhawks games featuring interviews with soloist Jim Cornelison, along with current/former Blackhawks on what it feels like to be in the ice during the Anthem.

“What’s in a jersey?” (airing Mon, February 22 at 10:00 PM):  SportsNite’s Chuck Garfien goes around the United Center to find out why fans get certain names on their jerseys and a test to see if they can spell the player’s name on the back of their jersey?  Plus, we get to meet Patrick Kane (not the player, but a middle-aged fan who’s a plumber).

“Sue Bowman and her dogs” (airing Wed, February 24 at 10:00 PM):  Blackhawks General Manager Stan Bowman’s wife Sue is not only a dog lover, but trains her dogs in agility competitions.  Gail Fischer talks to the Bowmans on the family’s passion for dogs, along with how Sue is chasing a national training championship, while Stan is going after the Stanley Cup.

NEW HALF-HOUR “SPORTSNITE” BLACKHAWKS SPECIAL:
On Tuesday, February 23 at 10:30 PM, SportsNite presented by DEX will air a new, half-hour, roundtable special entitled “Blackhawks Breakdown” that chronicles the 2009-10 season up to the Winter Olympics break, along with a preview of the final two months of the regular season leading up to the Stanley Cup Playoffs.  The special is hosted by Comcast SportsNet’s Blackhawks studio tandem of Chris Boden and Steve Konroyd, along with Blackhawks legend Denis Savard.
